This Place is About Prayer

Family is something special because you can’t earn your way in. The prayer house is not about earning your way into the body of Christ, or trying to appear “godly” enough to help lead. We are all stewards of this house.

This place is about prayer.

About coming before God and learning about him through encounters with him. We learn about God’s love as we feel his embrace when we need it most. We learn about his holiness as he convicts us of our wrong doing. We learn about his wisdom when we take his advice. We are not simply accumulating head knowledge about God, though many do while they rest in his presence, but we are learning about him as one learns about their lover. We are encountering the heart of God and discovering that there is much he longs to release and bless us with. Surely the reason we don’t have is because we don’t ask.

This place is about prayer.

About joining with other believers from all around campus to come as 1 body, with 1 mind and 1 voice, asking God to pour out his blessing on us. For the lost to be saved and the saved to know it. We did not choose God but he first chose us. He chose you. He did not make a mistake when he created you. he knew what he was getting into and he still wants you. He still likes you. he still chose you. He knows how this ends and he is calling you deeper. Jesus, even now, at the right hand of the father is saying, “Abba father, I desire, they be with me where I am. Abba father, I desire, because this one? They are mine, and I’m not letting go.” So take hold of that for which God took hold of you and begin to pray. We’re all trying to figure out how to do just that, and the only way to learn is to jump in and start doing it, learning as you go.

It doesn’t matter if you think you’re good at it, or bad at it, or you’ve never prayed before. It’s about you and God, not about how you look in front of others. Go and do and secret and your father will see, and that’s what counts. Come and pray. Pray as little or as much as you’re comfortable with, then come back another day and pray some more. You don’t have to use the prayer house. It’s just a dedicated space for this one purpose.
