50 Hours of Prayer November 9th-11th

50 Hours of Prayer

When we started discussing this idea it was actually a lot smaller. We figured we would maybe hold a 24 hour prayer intensive over a Friday to Saturday or something like that, but God had other plans. What started as 24 hours has since grown to 50, and what started as a Friday night has become the entire latter half of the week. That being said, we need your help!

First off, here are the details:

  • It starts with Campus Wide on Wednesday November 9th, 2011. (that’s 10pm THIS Wednesday).
  • There is a sign up board in the prayer house for you to sign up for your prayer shift. (also see sign upts below)
  • We will run it like a relay race with each person coming to the prayer house and “tagging off” with those that pray before and after them.
  • On Friday November 11th at 10pm we will come together again to close our time with a prayer party! Everyone is welcome to attend.

Here’s what YOU can do:

  • Sign up for a shift (or more than one if you would like)
  • Come to Campus Wide at the Prayer house at 10pm on wednesday
  • Come to the prayer house during your shift to pray.
  • Eat free Panera while you’re here!

You can sign up in person at the prayer house, online at http://www.loveosu.com/fifty.html or by emailing info@loveosu.com

Do I have to sign up to come pray?

The short answer is no, you do not have to sign up to come pray. However, by signing up you are setting a time to come and meet with God and you are helping us to ensure that all 50 hours get covered.

Why do I need to come to the prayer house to pray? Can’t I just pray at home?

You can pray anywhere. God will hear your prayers no matter where you are when you speak them. However, we are asking that you come to the prayer house for a couple of reasons. First, it is a place focused on prayer, free from the distractions of most other places around campus. It is also a form of accountability, especially for those late night/early morning shifts. Second, it builds community as you meet those that are also joining in prayer. Third, we need people to come eat Panera. Finally, we believe that bringing people together to pray in the same place is extremely powerful. Something about it just feels different.

Why are we doing this?

That’s a good question. Many times in the Bible it mentions people praying “night and day” or “without ceasing.” The tabernacle of David offered up prayer and worship 24/7. We are a house of prayer, and we feel that God spoke very clearly calling us to an intensive time of prayer, of getting back to why the prayer house was originally formed, and seeking God for what is to come. We haven’t had time to plan this, so we are trusting that God has it under control and will use it for his glory. It is our dream to eventually see the prayer house being used 24-7-365.

I can’t make it to the Prayer House before Thursday. Can I still sign up?

YES! If you can’t make it down to the prayer house before your desired shift email info@loveosu.com and we will add your name to the sign up board. Please note: sign ups are for people that are coming to the house to pray.

I won’t be able to make it, is there something else I can do?

As always we need people to pray for us. We are all students with extremely busy lives. We would never be able to do any of this if it weren’t for the grace and providence of God. So please, join with us in prayer. If you would like to donate money to help support the prayer house you can mail a check made out to loveOSU to 1382 Neil Ave, Columbus OH 43201.
